"There is a power that comes to women when they give birth. They don’t ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it."

Hey, mama!

I'm Kristen Shorey; a Birth Doula and photographer with Clover & Bloom Birth, serving families in Greenville, South Carolina.

I am extremely passionate about helping women dig deep, connect with their innate wisdom, and birth their babies the way they were designed to do.  I believe birth is best left alone. Being able to bear witness to women coming into their power, with a supportive and loving team, is one of the most beautiful experiences to behold.

My goal is to help you build trust in your body and your mind, so you feel prepared and excited as you transition through this incredible rite of passage.

I want you to feel empowered, and that starts with knowing your options, trusting your intuition, and making decisions based on facts, not fear. You have every right to own YOUR experience. Don't let anyone tell you differently. YOU are the hero in your birth story.

What do I offer?

What does a birth doula do?

A birth doula provides support and guidance to a pregnant woman and her partner before, during, and after birth. During the prenatal period a birth doula can help the soon-to-be parents establish a birth plan based on the parents' preferences, with up to date, evidence based research. A birth doula remains with a laboring mom throughout the duration of her labor, including early labor, providing both physical and emotional support.

What does the research say?

Research has found that people who have the continuous support of a doula during childbirth experience

  • 39% reduction in the risk of Cesarean section
  • 41 minutes reduced labor time (on average)
  • 31% reduction in the risk of the mother being dissatisfied with the birth experience
  • 15% increase in the chance of a spontaneous vaginal birth

What is my process with new clients?

Before I join you on this life changing journey, I prefer to meet for a consultation. This way we can both be sure we feel a connection! You can ask any questions you may have, and we can just get to know each other a little! It is so important for me to build a friendship with my clients during the prenatal period, so that my presence during labor brings a sense of trust, safety, and calm.
